Engineers can paint, too.

I have loved art for as long as I can remember, among many competing interests. In college, I started out as an industrial design/art major... and then switched to paleontology (digging up actual dinosaurs!)... and finally engineering. Not a typical progression, but it sure was fun.

While art is not my profession, it is still a big part of my life. By day I work as a mechanical engineer and software designer for a jet engine manufacturing company. But by night (well, evening), I am hunched over my dining room table making miniature watercolor and paper art.

I group my style in with “urban sketching” and “pen and wash”: my usual subjects are landscapes with some kind of man-made structures, and my usual medium combines line drawings (done in Micron pen) with watercolor washes of color. The majority of my paintings are of locations near my home in Connecticut, as well as birds-eye view representations of my favorite towns.

My wife and I (along with our little dog, Louie) love New England, and often spend our weekends exploring new towns. I’m a big believer that there is good in every place, and I hope my art makes that a little easier to see.
